Grenadier Packaging named a finalist in the UK Packaging Awards 2026

Grenadier Packaging is a finalist in the Cartonboard Pack of the Year category at the UK Packaging Awards 2026, recognised for their development of the Crafty Herd Advent Calendar. The project saw a structural redesign that solved one of the most persistent commercial problems within the chilled advent sector.
Developed for the Crafty Herd brand, the calendar replaces the traditional rectangular advent format with a twin-tower, pitched-roof cartonboard structure that fits inside a standard domestic fridge door.
Fridge space was widely cited as a barrier to purchase within the customer brief so concepts were created to engineer around this without compromising on premium feel or shelf presence.
The finished pack is built from four fully recyclable cartonboard components. These are two internal fitments, a pitched-roof body, and a sleeve, printed in six colours with varnish and gold foil. With 25 individual door openings, the structure maintains its integrity across a chilled shelf life.
The commercial impact has been significant. Crafty Herd's 2025 launch generated 56 pieces of press coverage, reaching 17.3 million people across national titles including the Mirror, Express, and Star, broadcast coverage on ITV's This Morning, and trade and influencer channels. Originally launched within the UK, an international launch is underway for 2026 with the structural design unchanged across every market.
